Ok, so. I've been told by multiple people that I'd probably like Deadpool. However, I'm not a huge comic book reader (I read some Dark Horse comics related to other fandoms: Buffy, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, etc...) so I'm not really sure where to start. I tried googling, but it was getting really intimidating. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on where I could start so I'm not completely lost?

I have to agree with everyone who recommended Deadpool to you - Wade Wilson is a fun character to read, and is fantastic when he’s done right. Instead of listing off all sorts of issues and authors, as I imagine that does little to help with the intimidation factor, I’ll point you to two starting-places.

Deadpool Classic - Collects the beginning best-of for his story, though it drags a bit in the first volume (especially if the 90s style grates on you). Volume 2 is where I think Wade began to win me over.

Cable and Deadpool - A great team-up story arc that is still one of my favorites, and also friendly to someone coming new to either character as the story delves into their backstory while carrying on with the main plot.

If you like what you see there, or you want other opinions, Comic Vine has a pretty straightforward article here that I largely agree with, and this article has an basic overview that might be fun to read too.

I hope that helps, and that if you do try reading any books with him in ‘em, you enjoy the Merc with a Mouth!
